The modern woman today uses one or more actions, devices, and/or medications for Birth control to avoid pregnancies and childbirth. Many of these tried and tested methods, devices, and medications are safe for use, but some are not, and in fact may be detrimental to the health of the user. Everyone using contraceptives should be aware of positive and negative side effects of using new contraceptive methods of birth control. One such new contraceptive method is Nuvaring. Before using any new contraceptive method, a woman should always consult a doctor and gather as much Nuvaring information as possible along with the information on usage problems and Nuvaring risks.
Nuvaring contraceptive is basically a 2-inch diameter flexible device in the form of a ring inserted in the vagina - once a month. Nuvaring is made from polyethylene vinyl acetate, and contains hormones like estrogen desogestrel, which is a new form of progestin. Nuvaring is considered a third-generation contraceptive and in fact uses a new form of the hormone - progestin, which is quite different from the hormones used in older generation of contraceptives. Nuvaring has been developed to release a lower and steadier hormone dose, which is directly absorbed into the bloodstream through the walls of the vagina.
One of the hormones - progestin - prevents ovaries from releasing eggs. Additionally, the uterus lining becomes thinner, thus inhibiting implantation of fertilized eggs. Due to regular Nuvaring usage, the cervical mucous becomes thicker, preventing sperm from entering the uterus. But before using Nuvaring, every woman should research more and get more Nuvaring information from doctors and websites on the Internet, regarding the Nuvaring risks and adverse effects of regular use.
There are always risks involved with using new products and Nuvaring is not an exception. Research on developing new Third generation contraceptives was started in the 80’s and the goal was to produce safe contraceptives with few adverse side effects. But extensive studies conducted on these new Third Generation contraceptives like Nuvaring, which use desogestrel, provided results that proved the fact that its use doubled the risk of venous thrombosis or blood clots. The regulatory authorities like the FDA have confirmed the results of the studies. Besides this there have been reported life-threatening side effects and Nuvaring risks like pulmonary embolism (also referred to as Nuvaring PE), stroke and deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
Women all over the world have always used birth control devices, medicines, and contraceptive methods to prohibit pregnancy. Over time, new methods, devices, and medicines are introduced and some are successful and safe while others are not successful, and some are even harmful. Women will always use contraceptive methods for birth control, irrespective of the fact that some may be harmful. But they should always acquire as much information as possible about a new product before using it. Nuvaring too is a fairly new Third Generation contraceptive and uses new forms of older hormones. Therefore every woman who wants to use Nuvaring should acquire as much Nuvaring information as possible and all information on Nuvaring risks from as many sources as possible.
