Picking the perfect set of accessories to complement your wedding dress is one of the highlights of a bride’s wedding fashion shopping list. There are a lot of wedding-inspired accessories out there so make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to browse to your heart’s content. Diamonds might be a girl’s best friend but let’s not forget that pearls, amethysts, and a whole range of other dazzling gemstones make close companions as well. Accessory shopping gives you the opportunity to experiment with the whole range of precious, semi-precious and convincing look alike stones that are sure to add extra sparkle to your day. Whether you want to feature your birthstone, wear your grandmother’s antique brooch, or have your artist best friend create a sparkly fascinator, your choice of accessories is the perfect way to turn your wedding ensemble into a unique expression of who you are. A few words of advice: Pick accessories that match the style of your wedding dress. For example, you might choose vintage jewellery to complement a traditional gown or have art deco pieces to suit a 1940s inspired dress. As with most things in life, balance is the key. If you love those enormous chandelier earrings, keep the rest of your accessories simple. You don’t want to resemble a Christmas tree. Try your accessories on with your dress so they complement rather than overtake it. Take the time to shop around. Although you might fall in love with the first set of jewellery you see it is always worthwhile to know what your options are. Make sure you have a clear idea of what style you are aiming for to avoid being caught up in the sea of accessories on the market. It might be a good idea to bring along a friend or relative who will give you an honest opinion. Don’t be afraid to express yourself. It is the individual touches that make your wedding outfit special so if you like the idea of a feathered headpiece or bright red shoes – go for it. It’s your day.
